Several design details prevented this suburban home from having the Montana meadow feel the homeowners were dreaming of. Relocating the driveway that had dominated the front yard to the side of the house made space for an entry path to wind through grassy berms. We removed a large maple with roots threatening the foundation of the house to make way for a large Ipe courtyard deck. The deck is a favorite sunny reading spot in the mornings. The barbecue master in the family upgraded to a full-service outdoor kitchen and bar. A stone path winds to a rustic stone firepit, a perfect place to spend hours telling stories and roasting marshmallows.
